Liberalism has been so liberal in granting equal status to both men and women in almost all fields. But nevertheless deep inside we all agree that we are not alike. But for some reason, up until now we could not explain ‘why?’. The answer is that we are from separate planets; Men are from Mars and Women are from Venus.

While reading this wonderful book I felt sorry for both men and women that some of their best intentions do not seem to work here on earth. And it is bound to be so as they are unable to shake off the dust they carried from their respective planets...Without doubt one can say that this book offers significant insight into the lives of both the parties, letting them understand the enigmatic psychological mind games they both play, decode the cryptic words and tiring signals in a better way. This is definitely a must pick.

"നാലപ്പാട്ട് പാമ്പിൻ കാവിൽ അനവധി വർഷങ്ങളായി വളർന്നു നിൽക്കുന്ന നീർമാതളമരം പൂക്കുന്ന കാലത്ത് നാട്ടിൽ വന്നെത്തുവാൻ, കൽക്കത്തയിൽ ഒരു വിദ്യാർത്ഥിയായി ജീവിച്ചിരുന്ന എനിക്ക് എല്ലാവർഷവും സാധിച്ചില്ല. ഇന്നും ആ മരം പൂക്കുമ്പോൾ ഞാനവിടെ എത്താറില്ല. എങ്കിലും ,എൻറെ അടച്ച കൺപോളകൾക്ക് പിന്നിൽ ,വെണ്ണ വർണ്ണമുള്ള പൂക്കളും വഹിച്ച്‌ , തലയെടുപ്പോടെ നിൽക്കുന്ന  ആ  മരം, വൈകാരിക സുരക്ഷിതത്വത്തിന്റെ ഒരു പ്രതീകം കണക്ക് നിലകൊള്ളുന്നു. അതിൻറെ ഗന്ധം, സ്മരണയുടെ രാജവീഥികളിൽ തളം കെട്ടുന്നു.        നീർമാതളമരം പൂക്കുന്നത് കേവലം ഒരു ആഴ്ചക്കാലത്തിന് വേണ്ടിയാണ്. പുതുമഴയുടെ സുഗന്ധം മണ്ണിൽനിന്നുയർന്നാൽ നീർമാതളം പൂക്കാറായി എന്ന് വിചാരിക്കാം. പൂക്കൾ വന്നു നിറഞ്ഞാൽ ഇലകൾ കൊഴിയുകയും ചെയ്യും. പാടത്തിനപ്പുറത്ത് ആശാരിപറമ്പിൽ നിൽക്കുന്നവരുടെ നാസാരന്ധ്രങ്ങളിലും ഒരു അനുഗ്രഹം എന്നപോലെ ആ പൂക്കളുടെ പരിമളം വന്നെത്തും ...ആ മരത്തിൽ പടർന്ന രംഗൂൺ ക്രീപ്പറുടെ വള്ളികളിൽ എല്ലാമാസവും കുറച്ചു പൂക്കൾ കാണാം; വെളുത്തവയും, ചുവന്നവയും. അവയ്ക്കുമുണ്ടായിരുന്നു ഹൃദ്യമായൊരു സൗരഭ്യം. തെക്ക് പടിഞ്ഞാറൻ കാറ...

Appreciation of the poem First Showers

The poem First Showers is a wonderful depiction ( ചിത്രീകരണം ) of nature’s ability to heal. Human beings live in a cruel world which is so selfish that it does not have enough time to take care of the worries of others. We forget to give comfort to our fellow beings who struggle to live. There are many people who work hard to make two ends meet.   In the poem we find a woman who is returning from her workplace. She is unknowingly caught in the first showers which soothes (give comfort) her like no one else.             The poet Nalini Sharma describes that ‘cool drops kissed my parched face’. The expressions like parched face, frayed nerves, fatigue, weary lines etc suggest the amount of tiredness of the lady.
